This quest is initiated by
completing the previous quest in the series:
Shield of Darkness. Speak with
Teryn Valso to begin.
Teryn Valso looks at the shield. "It has been a long time since I've seen something like this. The shield has become a true symbol of evil. You have but one task left."
"Travel to the ruins of Old
Targonor. There you will find a great beast named
Garzonag. This is the beast which guards the
Cartheon legions from outsiders. Slay him, and use his essence on the shield."

Garzonag can be found inside of the Ruins of Old Targonor. The easiest way I found to get to him would be by starting at the entrance to the ruins. Go straight in and hang a right at the first cross section. You can then proceed down that path if grouped or you can sneak along it's right edge if alone until the next cross section, at which you should hang a left. Garzonag will be at the end of that road. He wanders, so it shouldn't take much to snag him alone. Keep in mind that if grouped, you should set the loot to free for all to prevent the item being auto distributed to someone who doesn't need it as it is un-tradeable. Eliminate him and apply the Essence of Hatred to the shield(right click it). -KazanderAs you apply the essence to the face of the shield, it begins to stretch into a hardened black mass. The blackness that clasps the shield also grasps at your soul.
Reward:
Shield of HatredThe game keeps these quests as soloable yet there are many 4 dots which must fall before it's over and killing 100 brotherhood would suggest that a group would be far more pleasant. While it is definitely soloable at this time by some players, I don't think it would be very fun to do so. -KazanderUpdate: (It should be noted that if you use the shield's ability and travel into the center of the large building in Haven's Edge, Lord Talfyn himself will appear before you. He uses an ability called the presence of Talfyn to make you kneel, and tells you go to his manor to face him directly. If you travel there, there is only a mirrior which states coming soon.)
